Ellie Goulding Concert

On Tuesday night my boyfriend and I had the pleasure of seeing the fabulous Ellie Goulding at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. Her outfit was so fun and her shoes were to die for. Nail Polish Haul

Just thought I'd share my recent nail polish purchases. Half look like summer colors- and the other half look like fall colors.

From left to right Orly Frolic, Orly Flirty, China Glaze Tarnished Gold Crackle, China Glaze Westside Warrior, China Glaze City Siren

I just purchased the two Orly nail polishes from Sally Beauty Supply the other day. Flirty reminds me of Fancy Fuchsia but with a metallic silver dust in it & Frolic was just too much of a fun summery purple to pass up. Both are a part of Orly's Happy Go Lucky collection. The gold crackle my sister happened to pick up for me because she thought I'd like it! I do like it, but not exactly over the color shown below.

The next two colors are from the China Glaze Metro collection. Being a fall 2011 collection- the colors are exactly that, very fall-esque. I couldn't put down Westside Warrior once I saw it because it is such a unique olive green. The other color to catch my eye was City Siren. After swatching it on my finger I knew it was love at first sight. You could pull this color off with any outfit. The rest of the colors in the collection didn't quite do it for me. At the same time its 90 degrees outside and I feel like I can't wear anything but bright colors, so who knows! Below are the swatches...

Buh Bye Michael Kors Rose Gold Watch

As most of you know, if you read this blog, I bought the Michael Kors Rose gold watch, aka MK5128,  while down in St. Thomas in December. After owning it for a month, the rose gold started wearing off of the watch- and I sent it in for repair.

Well, after owning it for another 4 months and the same thing happening again, I decided it was time to get rid of it. I called Michael Kors customer service and explained to the rep my situation and told her all I wanted was a different watch. I mean, I spent $250 on a watch and it was practically falling apart. The rep told me to pick out whatever watch I wanted from the website, up to $260, and that was when I ordered this beauty.

Say hello to my new Michael Kors Oversized Horn Watch, aka MK5217. I wouldn't allow myself to get another watch where the outside coating would rub off- so thats why acrylic was perfect. When I got it in the mail yesterday I was actually surprised at how big it was! The face is huge, but luckily I like that. The links are a little chunkier than expected, but I'm sure I'll get over it. I am really liking the horn color though. It works well with my skin tone and I have a feeling I'll be getting a lot of compliments! 

So in the end I'd like to give a big thank you to Michael Kors customer service at the Metro Service Center. I had a watch in my possession for 6 months and they allowed me to swap it out for a different watch. Not too shabby.

Cruising 101

So, ya know how on the side of my blog it says there will be randomness? Well here you have it. Cruising 101. Alright- so I'm no expert BUT I can give you a few pointers! In 20 days I will be embarking on my 11th cruise! Ever since I was little I've been cruising with my family. My very first cruise was to Canada when I was in 5th grade I believe. It was short but sweet. Our next big adventure was to Alaska. We actually flew out to Washington a week early and rented a car to explore the Canadian Rockies. If you have never driven though that area I'm a telling you, it is not worth missing out on. I always told myself that one day I would return to the Canadian Rockies and stay at this hotel. I stood at the edge of Lake Louise and was in absolute awe.

Anyways, back to cruising. Of course Alaska was beautiful. On our flight back home our plane dropped 1,200 feet in mid air forcing us to make an emergency landing and officially scaring the crap out of my family and I. From there on out we only took cruises that left from ports near our house. Hellllooo Caribbean.

Puerto Rico (San Juan) is clean, has lovely architecture and great shopping. St Maarten is your typical Caribbean island. St Thomas has GREAT beaches (magens bay) and terrific shopping. I have come home with things such as cameras, watches and a few pieces of jewelry. When the cruise lines tell you they are taking you to Haiti, you kind of picture the Haiti that you see on tv. It's nothing like that. I'm pretty sure Royal Caribbean owns a piece of the island or something because it is literally fenced off and locals need to go through a gate to get in. They have rides, water parks and everything else that you would NOT expect to be there. Cozumel and Costa Maya offer great beaches, snorkeling and of course, shopping (more so Cozumel).

You are probably thinking. Wow, you must be lucky because traveling is expensive. But my whole point here is that is really isn't. Keep in mind that on the 10 cruises that I've been on, I have never once visited the spa, or eaten at the fancy restaurants on board or have ever gone on a cruise excursion. Why? Because I don't have to. Cruises try to tell you that you shouldn't rent your own scooter because it is risky- which I guess it could be- but my family has never run into trouble. We love exploring the islands and seeing beyond what the port has to offer. You can do research before you go on where to rent a scooter- otherwise you can usually easily find a rental place near the port.

If you are flexible as to when you can take a cruise, that's even better. At the bottom of this post I will link two sites where my family usually finds our deals. I have literally taken a 7 night cruise for $450 per person. That less expensive than staying at a hotel for 7 nights. PLUS you get unlimited food on a cruise ship!

Out of all of the places I've been to, Bermuda is by far my favorite. (Someday I will get married there). The island is gorgeous, the beaches are breathtaking and the island is clean. Bermuda is NOT a good place to go shopping! Everything on the island is expensive, but thats ok because everything you need is on the cruise ship. Definitely rent a scooter on this island. Its safe and totally easily to find your way around the entire island.

I have been to Bermuda, Alaska, Canada, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Haiti, Puerto Rico, Key West and the Bahamas. One day I hope to cruise the Mediterranean!

So remember. Be flexible on travel dates, skip the excursions, eat on the cruise ship, drink the water/juice provided on the ship (skip the booze and soda) and enjoy your future cruise!!

Ombré Nails

Ever since I saw Lisa Eldridge tweet this photo I had to somehow recreate it. Here's my attempt:

Yeah, I know mine don't look as good as hers but I'm definitely loving the look. She tweeted that Essie's Tart Deco was in her middle finger so of course I had to do the same thing! I'm not sure if I should have put white on my thumb nail- but hey, it was my first time! With how much I like the look I'm sure there will be more to come. Next I'm definitely thinking purples!
